Children who have healthy relationships are more likely to develop insights into other people's feelings, needs and thoughts which form a foundation for cooperative interactions with others. Foster parents, day care providers and adoptive parents have the opportunity to enhance the executive function of the brain so necessary for life long learning. What strategies and experiences will promote emotional health and social competence? What specifics foster self control, the ability to follow multiple-step directions and stay focused?
