Minnesota Adoption Resource Network (MARN) helps change the lives of
children by raising the awareness of adoption services through community
outreach. Through various publications, televised
Thursday's
Child programs, and articles in the Star Tribune, MARN recruits
adoptive families, thereby expanding the placement of opportunities for
hundreds of children.
MARN provides a multitude of services to adoption agencies and counties
in Minnesota in an effort to help identify, develop and support loving
homes for adopted children. MARN provides ongoing
training sessions, educational resources
and a database to these adoption professionals. The database serves as the
official State Adoption Exchange and includes listings of hundreds of
children and potential adoptive families in 87 counties.

Three publications each year highlight Minnesota's children in need of
adoptive families. We Have Been Waiting is published twice yearly
and highlights specific groups of children, such as sibling groups,
teenagers or medically fragile children. Minnesota's Waiting Children
magazine is published annually and features more than 100 children who are
waiting for adoptive families.

The Star Tribune donates
advertising space for featured children who are waiting the first Sunday
of each month.
This month's feature: Jessica
“Hi!
My name is Jessica, and I want to have someone to call family, to have
parents, to be adopted! Many of my interests relate to the outdoors,
such as biking, walking, swimming, camping, and playing soccer. I also
enjoy baking and reading. I have a good sense of humor and I like to
tell jokes. Did you know I am very bright and I do well in school? I
specifically enjoy Spanish class and I put a lot of effort into my
academic success. One of my goals is to attend college and earn a
nursing degree. Right now, I am really looking for a family that is
active and can offer a lot of support to a bright and friendly
16-year-old girl. Although living in an urban setting is preferable, I
would consider any location if your family was a good fit for me.”
