1133d – Webinar – Resolving Deliberate Self-Harm Among Adopted & Foster Youth
(July 2014) It is very alarming for adoptive parents to discover that their child has deliberately harmed or injured him or herself. This webinar presentation will focus on deliberate self-harm (DSH) in children from adoption and foster care. Dr. Richard Delaney will discuss the range of behaviors and the underlying reasons for DSH. Case examples will be used and questions from participants will be invited and addressed.

Richard Delaney, Ph.D., is an internationally known speaker and consultant to foster, kinship, and adoptive parents. He is the lead faculty member at Portland State University’s online training series for mental health professionals to achieve adoption-competence. He is an acclaimed author of several books, including “The Healing Power of Family”and “Fostering Changes.” Dr. Delaney is a returning trainer for MN ADOPT speaking on a variety of issues from complex trauma to understanding behavioral issues in special needs children and more.
