(November 2019)  This presentation will give an overview of child development from birth to age 5. The presentation will go through developmental milestones and examples of these developmental milestones through case examples. The presentation will focus on how to look at children through a developmental lens to understand behavior. It will discuss what often occurs during child development when there is a history of trauma. Participants attending this presentation will leave having a better understanding of what development looks like in very young children and how to better developmentally respond to young children.

Heather Siek, Psy.D. LPCC is a licensed outpatient therapist at The Village Family Service Center in Moorhead, MN. She received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology. Heather specializes in working with children, adolescents and families. She is trained in two evidence based trauma models, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Child Parent Psychotherapy. She is also trained in Parent Child Interaction Therapy, a behavioral treatment for young children. Heather is also an adoptive mother to her daughter, Audrey.
