Katie Claus graduated from St. Mary’s University with her Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy. She is a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (LAMFT) working towards licensure as a Marriage and Family Therapist and specializes in the treatment of couples and families.

She completed specialized training in the treatment of couples using Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and is passionate about reviving and strengthening marriages impacted by trauma, grief/loss and adoption. As a Christian therapist, Katie is familiar with the concerns of couples seeking to navigate the integration of faith into their marriage or family life.

She is especially interested in working with teens and young adults facing conflict and disconnection with peers and parents/guardians. She enjoys working together with teens and parents in family therapy to promote family connectedness, attachment security, and dissolve conflict. Katie understands the role that grief and loss play in each adoption story and feels honored to work alongside parents and teens working through the complex feelings and reactions that come from the grief and trauma associated with adoption. Katie has worked with parents and adolescents facing attachment concerns, depression, parenting concerns, anxiety, grief and loss concerns, and those recovering from abuse and dealing with PTSD.

Katie is also especially interested in helping couples find connection and support. She is experienced working with adoptive parents and particularly adult adoptees who are navigating the challenges associated with adult relationships. She has also worked with adult adoptees who are struggling with identity concerns, anxiety, relationship concerns, depression, and coping with the ramifications of childhood abuse, maltreatment, and neglect.

Katie works primarily from a systemic and attachment perspective and integrates Emotionally Focused Therapy, solution-focused, narrative, dyadic developmental psychotherapy, psychodynamic, and art therapy techniques into her work with children, teens, individual adults, couples, and families.
