Taking the step to ask for help for you or your child is a courageous one. Whether you are coming to talk about your own life or to learn how to best care for your child’s needs, I will work to make sure you feel supported, heard, and understood. I provide a safe place for you to process and talk about things that happen in your life, memories from the past, or thoughts and emotions that may feel overwhelming. For parents, I help you understand why your child is acting anxious, defiant, or sad, and give you tools to support them. More than anything, I seek to be an empathetic partner to walk alongside you or your family in whatever stage of life you find yourself in.
I work with children (ages 2+), adolescents, adults, and caregivers. I work from a trauma-focused, attachment lens, rooted in the belief that our relationships are the path to healing. I enjoy working with children and their adoptive, foster, or kinship caregivers. Primarily, I use play therapy with children, allowing them to process and work through trauma, challenges, and grief and loss in an environment that honors their strengths and experiences. I incorporate caregivers through weekly check-ins and regular caregiver sessions to provide support, space to process your own strengths and challenges, and strategies for understanding and responding to your child’s needs.
I utilize a variety of modalities and approaches in my work with children, adults, and families, including experiential play therapy, child parent psychotherapy, psychodynamic therapy, attachment work, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). I am also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a type of therapy that helps resolve difficult or traumatic memories and a variety of other problems. I speak Spanish and enjoy providing services for multilingual families seeking therapy for their child in English, plus parenting support in Spanish. I have experience working with a variety of symptoms and situations including: trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, autism, grief and loss, anger, adoption and foster care, parenting work, immigration and acculturation, and behavioral difficulties.
