Hello!  My name is Cynthia Johnson and I am an LICSW working with individuals and families in the Northern suburbs.  Since 2000, I have worked with primarily children and their families and absolutely love what I do!  I have extensive experience working with trauma backgrounds, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and children’s mental health issues.

I have provided services in-home to families and also worked as a school social worker providing services to children with special needs. I understand the importance of the family unit and work to include all members and their perspectives to create a new family dynamic. This is especially important to focus on in adoptive families.  This is a group of people coming together from very different backgrounds making a plan to spend life together.  It is important to include everyone and allow everyone a voice. Relationships take work and just like anything else people are passionate about, they become successful when work is put into them.

I do not believe that one type of therapy works for everyone.  I rely on the cultivation of the therapeutic relationship to help choose the most appropriate therapy for the family that I am working with.

I have a very flexible schedule and work with families to find times to meet that work with today’s busy schedules.  I even offer some weekend hours!
