The Center for Family Wellness was formed in 2020 to meet the mental health needs of our community in Northeastern MN. The Center offers individual, family, couples, and group therapy. We see clients of all ages, though specialize in working with very young children (0-6 years old) and their caregivers, as well as couples, parents, and teens. We help people with a wide range of concerns including relational, emotional, psychological, and behavioral problems. Our approaches are trauma-informed, as well as grounded in systems theory and attachment-based models.

My work as a therapist is grounded in relational-cultural theory, which places mutually growth-fostering relationships at the center of our well-being. I work with clients to better understand the personal and social factors that can lead to disconnection– from oneself, others, community, spirituality, and the environment. This chronic disconnection is at the root of mental illness and social inequity. The parents in families I work with often come into that role through adoption or marriage, both of which present distinct issues related to attachment and relationship. I believe that caregivers are the rightful people to help their children through the difficulties they face in life, and I focus much of my work on strengthening and supporting them in this role while helping them build a stronger parent-child relationship.

I am certified in Attachment and Biobehavioral Catch-up (ABC) for infants and toddlers, trained in Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), as well as Mothers and Babies program and sand tray therapy. I also have experience as a clinical supervisor in a community mental health setting.
