Julie has over eighteen years of professional experience working with children (4+), adolescents and adults in rural outpatient mental health settings. She has trained through the Department of Human Services in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and co-facilitated a certified Intensive Outpatient DBT skills group. She is also trained in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).

Julie has extensive experience in sexual abuse issues both with victims and perpetrators and has facilitated an adolescent sexual offenders’ group for the past fifteen years. She has a passion for working with victims of domestic violence.

Julie earned a Master of Arts in Counseling and Psychological Services from St. Mary’s University. She is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and a Minnesota State Board Approved Supervisor. Julie is a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor (RPT-S). Julie is also part of a non-profit multi-disciplinary team at North Star Family Advocacy Center located in central Minnesota. North Star is committed to reducing further trauma to children and vulnerable adults. For the past seven years, Julie has volunteered at Pearl Crisis Center in Mille Lacs County where, for the past five years, she has served as the Board of Directors’ Chairperson. Prior to becoming a therapist, she held a Limited Short-call Substitute Teacher Licensure teaching in the Milaca and Foley Public School Districts.
