Life, for all of us, is a complex dance. No two people are the same, every story is unique. Adoption is another beautiful, complex layer to an individual’s and family’s journey. It is a privilege and a gift to be given a window into people’s heads and hearts, and I humbly support individuals and families as an agent of change. It takes significant courage to seek help, and allow someone in to our personal lives, and I do my best to honor this in therapy.
I have spent my career in the healing arts and believe in a holistic approach to healing, growth, and development. I have experience working with foster, kinship, and adoptive families and understand the potential impacts of trauma. My approach is strength based, helping the client connect back to themselves and find their innate power and ability to transcend, heal, and grow.
My work is client centered, and I work to provide an open, non-judgmental space. Sessions are intended to build resilience and awareness, identify obstacles, process grief and loss, start the process of changing unhealthy behaviors and beliefs, and reconnecting the body and mind. I support individuals, typically 12 y/o and older, on their journey with identity, functioning, relationships, self-esteem, and existential concerns. I believe in the importance of relationships and when applicable engage families and other relationships in therapeutic work. Each adoptive situation is as unique as the individuals who are a part of it, and individual work in conjunction with family work can be powerful.
In addition to clinical practice, I teach Yoga, self-care, and mindfulness in the community. I am bilingual in English and Spanish and understand the importance of cultural context and perspective. Having grown up with an adopted family member, I deeply respect this intricate aspect of human connection and love.
